All events shown below are held at Whitefeather House unless otherwise indicated. We are in North Portland, Oregon at 3315 North Russet Street, which is one mile west of I-5 and one block north of North Lombard, behind Sterling Savings Bank. Look for our bright rainbow-colored PEACE flag out front.

Our sweet Marigold, the Whitefeather bunny rabbit, crossed over from this world on Easter morning - true! She went gently, at home, surrounded by love. She was nearly 9, and bunnies are only supposed to make it to 8, so she did okay. Her spirit will always, always be here, though. 6:00 pm - Presentation by Eileen Kennedy, followed by discussion:
"Kevin Mannix and his Mandatory Minimums Ballot Measure." 
Learn
what Kevin Mannix has planned for the State of Oregon this time. This ballot measure will see an increase in women, youth, and mentally ill people incarcerated. Find out what you can do. Short powerpoint before discussion.

June:  We were pleased to host the PASTORS for PEACE on June 20th as they came through Portland on their way to Cuba:

April: Sustainability month. We viewed films on the climate - Global Warming - Signs and Science (PBS) - and on population - World in Balance - Population Paradox (NOVA).

March:  WHEELS OF JUSTICE - Nonviolent education and action against the war and occupation in Iraq and Palestine for justice and universal human rights.

Film shown was No End in Sight - Iraq's Descent into Chaos, followed by discussion, Peace Witness readings and music.

January 13: US Senate Candidate John Frohnmayer shared his views and took our questions.
January 20: The film Everest Peace Project was presented by the filmmaker, Lance Trumbull.
January 27:  We listened to and discussed the Beyond Vietnam speech made by Martin Luther King, Jr.

2007 Events:

December: Focus was on The Holy Land. We had presentations from Rachel Joy, who recently returned from a trip to Palestine; from Waddah Sofan, a Palestinian, who spoke of the current conflict and possibilities for peace; and from Joy Ellison, who was on a break from her work with Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) in Palestine.

November: Weekly showings of episodes from 500 Nations, a PBS documentary about the Native American nations of North America. We also had Special Guests from the Pima and Siletz tribes, with discussion following.

Sept. 7. Film Night:  An Inconvenient Truth.

Sept. 21  Film Night: Who Killed the Electric Car?

August 3. Iran: The people and the politics. Jackie & Mike Spurlock shared their experiences and photos of life in Iran for several years with the Peace Corps, and then again in 2006 for a visit with Global Exchange. Interesting discussion followed.

July 6.  Film Night  -  Syriana.  

July 13.  Film Night  -  The Agronomist. 

July 20.   Oregon Peace Institute Presentation. Josh Eddings, Executive Director, on the current work of OPI, followed by discussion. A “Rent Party” for OPI, with a silent auction and a pass-the-hat donation opportunity.

July 27.  Film Night  -  Good Night and Good Luck.
